Claim V3 Fees Before You Remove Liquidity
Collect fees from a Sushi V3 position before you exit, then remove liquidity; learn what the claim transaction costs and why a final collection may still be due.

Claim the fees on your V3 position before removing liquidity if you want those tokens transferred to your wallet first; the claim is a separate transaction from the exit. Sushi V3 positions can collect fees while liquidity stays in the pool, so you can check the amounts and receive them before withdrawing your principal.
Collecting first makes it easier to see which tokens came from trading fees and which come back as withdrawn liquidity.
How do V3 fees build up?
V3 fees accrue when swaps use your position’s liquidity while the market price is inside its chosen range. If the price moves outside that range, the position stops earning fees until the price returns, although fees already accrued remain claimable.
Fees are tracked separately from the liquidity you deposited and are paid in the pool’s two tokens. They do not automatically increase your position, so claiming them does not compound your liquidity. For a fuller explanation of the swap routing side, see sushiswap.
How do you collect fees before exiting?
Open the V3 position in the pool interface using the wallet and network that hold it, then choose the option to collect fees. Check the token amounts shown before submitting; the claim sends those tokens to your wallet and requires a network transaction fee, which varies with the chain and current network demand.
- Confirm the connected wallet owns or is approved to manage the position.
- Check the pool pair and network match the position you intend to close.
- Review the fee amounts in both tokens before confirming.
- Wait for the claim transaction to confirm before starting the withdrawal.
After the claim confirms, return to the same position and choose the option to remove liquidity. Review the withdrawal amounts and any minimum amounts or slippage settings the interface presents, then confirm that transaction separately. The returned tokens reflect the position’s current composition, which can differ from the mix you originally deposited as the pool price changes.
Do you need to claim again after removing liquidity?
Yes, a final collection may be needed after the liquidity is removed. The removal action updates the position’s owed amounts, including fees earned since your earlier claim; depending on the interface, a full exit may offer a combined remove-and-collect flow or leave a separate collect step afterward.
Check the position again once the removal confirms. If the interface still shows tokens owed, collect them before considering the position fully settled. This is why collecting first is useful for separating the earlier fee payment, but it does not necessarily replace the collection associated with the final withdrawal.
What should you check before confirming?
Compare the displayed fee amounts with the amounts you expect and make sure the transaction goes to the position’s correct network. A fee claim costs gas even when the amount collected is small, so for a small position the network charge may outweigh the convenience of a separate claim before removal.
If your goal is simply to exit, check whether the removal flow collects outstanding fees as part of the same transaction. If you want a clear record of fees paid before the exit, claim them separately, then remove liquidity and check once more for any remaining amount due.
