How Long a Mantle Bridge Withdrawal Takes Now

A canonical withdrawal from Mantle to Ethereum takes about 12 hours to become ready to claim, followed by a separate transaction on Ethereum. That is much shorter than the former seven-day wait, but it is not an instant transfer, and the full time can vary with network and proof processing.

Plan for the wait and keep gas available on both networks, so you can finish the withdrawal as soon as the claim is ready.

Why does a Mantle withdrawal take about 12 hours?

The withdrawal has to be included in Mantle’s state, proven and verified on Ethereum before the bridge releases the funds. Mantle’s shift to validity proofs removed the old optimistic challenge period, which is why the canonical withdrawal is now expected to take around 12 hours rather than a week. The estimate describes the settlement process, not a guaranteed countdown.

When you initiate the withdrawal, the Mantle transaction records the request; it does not immediately add the funds to your Ethereum balance. The bridge waits for the relevant proof and Ethereum settlement, then marks the withdrawal ready for its final claim. For more detail on the route and how it handles assets across networks, see this guide to the mantle bridge.

What do you need to complete a Mantle withdrawal?

Start the withdrawal from your wallet on Mantle, then return to the bridge once its status shows that the claim is ready. You will need to switch the wallet to Ethereum and sign a second transaction to release the funds. Leaving the page or closing your browser does not cancel the request, but you may need to reconnect the same wallet to find it in the bridge’s history.

Budget for fees at both ends: the initiation uses Mantle gas, while the final claim uses Ethereum gas. Keep native MNT available on Mantle and ETH on Ethereum; the funds waiting in the bridge cannot pay for the claim transaction on your behalf. The practical sequence is:

  • Check that the wallet has enough MNT to submit the withdrawal.
  • Save the Mantle transaction hash and follow the withdrawal’s status in the bridge history.
  • Once it is ready, switch to Ethereum, keep ETH for gas, and submit the claim.

For ERC-20 tokens, check that the bridge supports the asset and confirm the destination address before signing. A bridge transfer moves an asset between networks; it does not automatically swap it into a different token. The token representation on Mantle may also differ from the Ethereum contract, so check what the receiving wallet or app accepts.

What can make the withdrawal take longer?

The roughly 12-hour estimate depends on the proof and settlement pipeline keeping pace, as well as Ethereum processing. Busy network conditions or delays in producing and verifying the proof can extend the wait, while the final claim adds the time needed to submit and confirm another Ethereum transaction. Check the withdrawal’s live status rather than assuming the estimate is an exact deadline.

If a faster route is available through a third-party service, it may use liquidity to deliver funds before the canonical withdrawal settles, with its own fees and route conditions. That changes the service and cost involved; it does not make the canonical claim ready sooner. For most users who can wait, the canonical route offers a straightforward trade-off: lower dependence on a liquidity provider in exchange for waiting for Mantle’s settlement process and paying gas for the final Ethereum claim.
